Business Development Manager

Business Development Manager opportunity for an exceptional sales professional with a background in selling quality focused B2B products.

Working from your satellite/home based Edmonton office, you will become part of the parks and recreation industry by developing spaces and selling products that enhance Northern Alberta communities. We are searching for a team member with a background in representing quality products with an understanding of the sales approach needed when you cannot rely on “low bid” to sell.  In this position you will have the chance to make a true difference for those living in Northern Alberta.

Your primary clients will be municipalities, schools, school districts, landscape architecture firms, contractors and community groups. The successful applicant must be comfortable working from a home based office with daily local travel and 25% per month out of town travel to correctly connect with all towns and rural areas of the Northern Alberta territory. It is expected in this position that face-to-face meetings with clients would occur on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position includes market development, achieving sales targets, tradeshow attendance, sales cultivation, lead follow-up, designing layouts, forecasting, presentations, project management, and professional development.

Market Development
-Educate and train clients and specifiers on products and services
-Participate in 3-5 tradeshows per year
-Travel territory in an effective and comprehensive manner
-Ensure inclusion on RFPs and requests for quotations
-Seek out new opportunities

Sales Cultivation
-Follow up on daily sales leads provided by company and suppliers
-Network with existing customers
-Ascertain client’s needs and provide proposals and quotations
-Design play space layouts and park layouts
-Conduct group sales presentations using PowerPoint, iPad etc.
-Develop and increase customer base

Territory Forecasting and Achieving Sales Targets
-Formulate and meet annual sales goals
-Effectively plan for long-term sales growth
-Manage achieving and exceeding sales goals
-Working with management team to maximize sales potential

Project Management
-Manage project details to achieve utmost customer satisfaction
-Liaison between customer, installation forces, and company’s head-office
-Assist in managing project schedules
-Participate in final installation inspections

Professional Development
-Participate in sales training events at company and manufacturer locations
-Analyze competitor’s products and services in sales territory
-Become familiar with computer programs used by company and it’s suppliers
-Strive to continually improve professional skills

Skills & Education Required:

Proven sale professional with accompanying related post-secondary education. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and CRM software. Proven history of achieving and exceeding sales targets and goals.

Self-motivated. Able to work independently. Professional presence and strong presentation skills. Comfortable and experienced with public speaking. Time management and organizational skills. Understanding of construction principals is of benefit.

Excellent knowledge of Alberta geography and willingness to complete overnight travel at an average rate of 1 week per month or 25%. Daily local travel.
